Hi! My name is Taylor Bearden and I am a licensed Massage therapist, located in Madison Wisconsin as well as Waunakee Wisconsin. I consider myself to be a Wisconsin native, although my early childhood lead me to move quite often, leaving me with connections to other states as well. After I graduated high school in Madison, I started at Madison College and became a Massage Therapist in August 2021.
From a Client to a Practitioner:
I got my first massage before I had even considered massage therapy as a career or path I could take in life. I had this young preconceived notion that massage was only for people who want to treat themselves and relax. The perfect part of a spa day. Once I had gotten my first massage as a late teen, it became so much more than that. The body I didn't feel good in suddenly felt light, like the weight of my negative thoughts towards myself just melted off of me. I knew I wanted to get another massage.
The two years after I graduated high school I spent lost, doing my general education classes and working full time at a job I could tolerate. Until I had a conversation with the second Massage Therapist I had met. We shared many similarities when it came to not only wanting to help others, but our learning styles in school. I have always been a hands on learner and at that moment I realized massage is almost the definition of hands on learning. I got enrolled into the Madison College Therapeutic Massage program and started that next fall.
Now I am two years into being a licensed Massage Therapist and I could spend hours on why massage is so much more than a treat or ending to a perfect massage day. Massage is about taking care of your health. I believe there is a need for balance when it comes to relaxing in a massage and working out knots with therapeutic work.
